Frankly’s next home & June forum

Hi all,

We’re excited to share our June updates on Frankly, a project out of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. While you may have heard from us before through occasional announcements and updates, we’ll now be reaching out more regularly with news, events, research, and opportunities connected to the project.

We’re glad to have you here, and we’ll do our best to keep these emails worth opening. You can always update your preferences or unsubscribe from this list (if you must!).

If you have any questions, you can explore the Frankly Help Center or email hello@frankly.org to reach us directly.

Frankly Refresher

Frankly is an open-source platform that reimagines digital space for public discourse. It’s part of a broader portfolio we’ve been building within the Applied Social Media Lab at theBerkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, focused on improving online discourse and participation, especially for communities and organizations navigating challenging dialogue or decision making.

Monthly Highlights

Frankly is leaving the nest! May was a month of transition, momentum, and growth across the project.

The team made significant progress toward securing a new home for Frankly within Harvard and coordinating the project’s transition into its next phase. Alongside that work, the team also received a major grant, which we will be excited to report on soon!

Frankly was also evaluated and tested by several additional organizations across continents, helping the team gather valuable feedback as the platform continues to grow.

As we prepare for open beta launch, the team has been focused on strengthening the platform’s foundations — improving the event experience, tightening infrastructure, and getting Frankly ready for a broader audience.

We’re thrilled to share that Frankly will continue to be housed at Harvard Law School, ensuring the project remains connected to the research, resources, and community that have supported it from the start.
